BY LINDA BOWLBY, M.D.
In Dr. Bowlby's screenplays, as in all of her endeavors, her hope is for the holistic healing of those who see or read her works. As she well knows, everyone chooses their thoughts, which result in their subsequent emotions and behaviors.
Today's films abound in human thoughts focused on ego-driven desires, which result in fear, anger and greed, followed by aggression, wars and genocide.
Screenplays can also be a vehicle for planetary healing, which will only occur as individuals make conscious choices to focus on positive, life-affirming thoughts. Such thoughts will create emotions such as love, kindness, compassion and forgiveness, followed by actions of like kind.
The film industry badly needs an overhaul. Instead of its obsessive rehashing the sordid aspects of human nature, films must turn their focus to positive human attributes, which promote individual and social healing. Dr. Bowlby's screenplays are of the latter genre.
